After finishing the 2010 Asian Tchoukball championship both in 5th place, the UAE national tchoukball squad went on the trip to India for a series of 3 friendly matches, from the 15th to 19th of November 2010. The event was organized by Indian Tchoukball Federation and count on the presence of the president of the FITB, mr Chris Huang (who conducted a coach C seminar) and the FITB director of international development mr Julio Calegari (who conducted a referee seminar).
The first match was held in Ghaziabad at the SANSKAR CO EDUCATIONAL SCHOOL on the 15th nov. Both teams had a very warm welcome from the students and officials. Final score UAE 61 x 46 India. On the 16th nov both teams headed to Meerut, where they had their second match at the Delhi Public School with the final score of UAE 56 x 43 India. At evening, in the presence of the mayor of the city of Meerut both teams had a gala dinner at the hotel. The last leg of the trip, on the 18th Nov, was in Agra, with the match held at the Saint John School, where UAE got the third victory by 56 x 48.
After all the matches and seminars, on the last day, the players and officials had a fantastic tour to the iconic Taj Mahal. It was a great experience for all the participants! All the matches were in a grass field and before the beginning there were dance presentations, speeches and the national anthem of India and UAE. There was a very good media coverage in the local TV and over 15 newspaper articles were released! This event was important to support the development of tchoukball in India and also in the UAE. During the matches all the players gave their best and could also improve their skills by learning from the other team technique and from the seminars. The enthusiasm and motivation that the event had brought to both teams will be essential in the preparation for the World Tchoukball Championship in Italy 2011.
