UAE-India friendly matches

After finishing the 2010 Asian Tchoukball championship both in 5th place, the UAE national tchoukball squad went on the trip to India for a series of 3 friendly matches, from the 15th to 19th of November 2010. The event was organized by Indian Tchoukball Federation and count on the presence of the president of the FITB, mr Chris Huang (who conducted a coach C seminar) and the FITB director of international development mr Julio Calegari (who conducted a referee seminar).
The first match was held in Ghaziabad at the SANSKAR CO EDUCATIONAL SCHOOL on the 15th nov. Both teams had a very warm welcome from the students and officials. Final score UAE 61 x 46 India. On the 16th nov both teams headed to Meerut, where they had their second match at the Delhi Public School with the final score of UAE 56 x 43 India. At evening, in the presence of the mayor of the city of Meerut both teams had a gala dinner at the hotel. The last leg of the trip, on the 18th Nov, was in Agra, with the match held at the Saint John School, where UAE got the third victory by 56 x 48.
After all the matches and seminars, on the last day, the players and officials had a fantastic tour to the iconic Taj Mahal. It was a great experience for all the participants! All the matches were in a grass field and before the beginning there were dance presentations, speeches and the national anthem of India and UAE. There was a very good media coverage in the local TV and over 15 newspaper articles were released! This event was important to support the development of tchoukball in India and also in the UAE. During the matches all the players gave their best and could also improve their skills by learning from the other team technique and from the seminars. The enthusiasm and motivation that the event had brought to both teams will be essential in the preparation for the World Tchoukball Championship in Italy 2011.

Fourth Asian Tchoukball Championship

From the 9th to the 11th of July 2010 was held in Singapore the fourth edition of the Asian Tchoukball Championship. On this edition the UAE took part in two categories: Adult male and M12 boys. The boys were very motivated after their successful friendly match with Singaporean boys in april in Sharjah and had a great participation in this asian tournament, finishing in fourth place. The adult category had 10 teams and the UAE men had in their group the strong teams of Malaysia and the host Singapore, but after winning the matches against Thailand and Philippines, they got the fifth place in the general classification of the event. It was a great event and a sensational experience for all the players. After this event, the UAE team was invited to go to India for a series of 3 friendly matches and in the beginning of 2011 the Pakistani team will come to the UAE.

UAE - Singapore M12 friendly tournament

It was held in the Sharjah Youth Center, on the 1st and 3rd of april, the M12 Friendly Tournament Singapore - UAE. The young team from Singapore came to the UAE to take part in this event with another 4 local teams : Sharjah Educational Zone, Sharjah Youth Centres, Sharjah Children Centres and UAE M12.
All the teams played together in a very friendly and nice atmosphere of fair play. The level was very good and all the final scores were very tight, with the last minutes been crucial to definite the winner of each match. The last match was the official international match UAE x Singapore. It was a very exciting match and the spectators and VIPs present enjoyed it a lot ! The final score was 44x37 for the Emiratis.
During this event was organized a trip to Dubai with the kids from Singapore and UAE team together. They visited the Burj al Arab Hotel, Madinat Center, Burj Khalifa building (highest in the world) and the Dubal mall, as well as the Sharjah traditional Souk (market).
Mr Jeff Ang from Singapore, coach of the national squad, conducted a FITB Coach C seminar with the participation of 65 physical education teachers from all over the country.
This event was very important for the promotion of tchoukball in the UAE, specially to have more support for the creation of the national federation and the participation in the Asian Tchoukball
Championship in july in Singapore.
On behalf of the FITB, I would like to thank very much to Jeff Ang and the Singaporean team for all the effort done to be able to come to this event. Also a great thanks for the support given by the Sharjah Education Zone, Sharjah Children Centres and Sharjah Youth Centres and specially to my dear friends Mohamed Zaghdoud and Nabiha Mohamed Houais, without them, this event would be possible !
